Learn to change your mindset for new behaviors to become automatic.

It's okay to keep things of sentimental value, the trick is to keep your memory items all together in a clean storage place that won't impede your daily routine.

Mindset

Allow yourself to grieve/celebrate as your release your excess clutter. I guarantee you that your life will change as you let go of the stuff that is holding you back.

Be aware of your thoughts as they are the blueprints that create your reality. What are you thinking about your life? Look around you - what do you see?

Meditation will help quiet your mind and show you that you are not your thoughts. If you truly desire to increase your sense of freedom and well-being, commit to do this as a regular daily practice. Here are some simple meditation instructions:

Sit quietly with your eyes closed. Become aware of your breath. Notice as the breath enters and exits your nose. In, out. In, out. In, out. Whenever thoughts arise, simply and gently return to your breath: In, out. In, out. In, out. Certain thoughts will be louder than others and clamor for your attention, but time and again, just allow yourself to return to observing your breath.

Decorative

Even pretty clutter is clutter. Choose to showcase just your special items, or rotate items. Allow space around them so that you can appreciate their beauty. Small baskets or containers turn an otherwise cluttered area into an orderly one.

Surround yourself with things that you truly love. Be selective. Remember, the images you look at every day will settle into your subconscious and begin to manifest in your life.

Your bedroom is for restful sleep and intimacy. Pay particular attention to keeping this room peaceful and inviting. Close your eyes. Imagine exactly how you want this sacred space to be, and then create it so that the room reflects that.

Mirrors open up a room and increase the perceived space. Try adding some mirrors for a sense of expansion. If you walk into your home and face a wall instead of an open foyer, it's also a good idea to put a mirror up on that wall to open up the energy.

Plants, flowers, candles, rugs, and pillows are all touches that can easily warm up and personalize your home.

Time

Leave more time than you think you need to get to wherever you are going. Things always take longer than we anticipate. We can decrease our stress by creating a less frenzied lifestyle. Being on time shows respect for the person or people you are meeting.

Create your 'To Do' list for the following day on the evening prior. This will allow you to sleep more peacefully.

Allow unstructured time for yourself and your children. Our psyches need time to be, play, create, and relax. So many people over schedule themselves and their families, that they block any inspiration that may decide to visit.

General Tips

Determine if you love, need, and/or use each item. If not, let it go. Choose to fill your life with things that add purpose and pleasure.

Find a 'home' for everything. When your stuff has a place that it belongs, it will be easy to return it there.
